Craft, import, and classic beer — the finding, choosing, cellaring, and drinking side of it, with the standard open on the table: every style in the explorer below carries its BJCP 2021 ranges, its character, and the classic examples the rest get measured against.
The Beer Corner is a room inside After Hours, the clubhouse's 21+ wing — and it is not the Brew Room. That room, out on the main floor, is for making beer. This corner is for the beer somebody else already made well. Posting here takes an account.

Quick question before you step in: are you 21 or older?
The Beer Corner sits inside After Hours, the clubhouse's 21-and-over wing. Confirm your age to enter. An account is also required to post in the room.
Your answer is remembered on this device for this browsing session. This is a front-door confirmation for now; account-level checks arrive with the member accounts build.
This wing is 21+ — no hard feelings.
The main floor is open to every member: the games, the Board, the hobby rooms, and the slate are all out front.
No style names memorized, no clue what a saison is, just the feeling that beer is somebody else's drink — good, that's the job you hand him. Tell Luka the flavors you already love — coffee, chocolate, citrus, fresh bread — and what has put you off so far; he turns those answers into one style to try first, in plain English, no jargon left unexplained. The explorer sits one step below — thirty styles on the BJCP 2021 standard, the cellar list, the fresh-or-cellar calls. That's the depth he draws on. Start with the conversation.
Discussion only — nothing is bought, sold, or traded here. And every style word in this corner travels with its plain-English meaning attached; that's a house rule, not a favor.

Each door opens Luka with the context already loaded. He asks the quick questions, you answer what you can — partial answers are fine — and the two of you land on a first pour.

The Style Explorer — BJCP 2021, on the table
Thirty styles, five families. The ranges are the published standard — the Beer Judge Certification Program's 2021 guidelines, the same sheet judges score against — and every style file names its source. Click a style for its full sheet: the numbers as bars, the character, the classic examples BJCP lists, and the house's serving guidance. Style arguments are this room's favorite sport; now they have a rulebook.

Fresh vs cellar — the two clocks beer runs on
Drink it fresh
Hops fade — the canning date is part of the label
Hop aroma and flavor are the first things time takes. Hop-forward styles — IPAs in every dialect, pale ales, hoppy lagers — are a fresh game: buy them dated, keep them cold, drink them young. Nobody in this room cellars an IPA, and the explorer's dates are why the cellar list below asks for a drink-by on anything hoppy.
Cellar it
The big, the dark, and the strong genuinely change
Barleywines, imperial and barrel-aged stouts, Belgian strong ales, lambic and gueuze — these are beer's cellar styles. Two vintages of the same beer are two different pours. Cool, dark, steady storage, caps up, and honest notes on when to open what: that's the whole discipline, and the list below is where you keep it.

How the corner reads a shelf
Served the way the brewer meant
The right glass isn't ceremony — it's aroma and foam doing their jobs — and serving temperature decides what a beer shows you. Too cold mutes everything; the style tells you where it wants to be, and every style sheet in the explorer carries the house's serving guidance for exactly that reason.
The Weekly New-Beer Thread still runs every week: the new one you tried, the pour shot, what it actually tasted like — and the only verdict that counts: does it earn a second buy? Log it in the cellar list first and the thread writes itself.
My cellar list
Your list lives on this device and nowhere else. It's the record Luka reads back when you ask what's ready to open.
Check the Label
Beer is where the tool goes deepest
Type the name of the can or bottle in front of you — or describe its label — and Luka returns the deep view: full specs (strength, bitterness where the brewer publishes it, style and origin), where the beer sits inside its style, the flavor taken apart note by note, ratings context from named sources labeled and dated, the glass and temperature it wants, what food it belongs next to — and the fresh-or-cellar call. If Luka can't verify a beer, he says exactly that instead of inventing a spec.
Ask Luka
Ask Luka what's worth drinking
I like the dark stuff — what do I try next? This bottle's been in my cellar three years: open it or wait? What glass does this style actually want? Luka works the Beer Corner at full depth — style fluency, brewery knowledge, vintage awareness — and prices and ratings always arrive named and dated, or not at all.
The wing's rules apply here like everywhere in After Hours: discussion only, nothing bought, sold, or traded in the room — and the way home is never the last pour's decision.
