The Rail — closing lines archive

Every line, on the record.

This is the homework archive: every game the clubhouse tracks, with the moneyline as it first appeared in our snapshots, as it stands now, and — the moment the game starts — the close it finished at. Snapshotted by us, timestamped, never backfilled. This is where a read gets graded: did your number beat the close?

Education

The close is the market's final word

The closing line is the price at game time, after a week of tested money, injury news, and weather have been priced in — the market's sharpest final estimate of the game. That's why bettors grade themselves against it instead of against memory: the close doesn't move after the fact, and neither does this archive.

Education

What beating the close proves — and what it doesn't

If you bet a side at a better price than where it closed, you beat the close. Over a season, doing that consistently is evidence that your homework finds numbers before the market finishes pricing them. It is not proof of profit: an edge that small still has to survive the vig and plain luck, and plenty of bettors with good closing-line value lose money. Both halves of that sentence, every time — that's the house rule for this page.

Prices are moneylines from the book named on each row (the book carrying the most snapshots for that game), pulled via TheOddsAPI and snapshotted by the clubhouse. Open = our first snapshot of that game; current = the latest; close = the last snapshot at or before the game's start time, shown once the game has started. Lines move — the price at the book is the only one that counts.

Disclosures — read them once, they apply everywhere lines appear:

21+ only. You must be 21 or older to wager anywhere in the United States.

Lines move — check the book. Odds shown are snapshots for information only and change constantly. The price at the sportsbook is the only one that counts. Nothing on this page is a tip, a pick, or a guarantee.

California: sports wagering is not legal in California. California visitors see lines and content only — no wagering offers are directed at California.
